Enforcement Technician, ZS-1802-4/5 (MAP)

As an Enforcement Technician, you will perform the following duties:
o Use the Office of Law Enforcement's case management system to enter investigative data, use analytical reports and compile information for agents and officers for use in investigations.o Query law enforcement and other databases (NCIC, CLEAR, NLETS, etc.) for relevant investigative information and criminal histories.o Compile and summarize narrative and statistical reports and conduct quality assurance checks in OLE's case management system.o Prepare investigative case packages by obtaining documents, conducting limited research and analysis, scanning, copying, organizing, assembling and filing investigative case files.o Provide routine administrative support and assistance with travel needs to officers, agents, and supervisors as needed.o Monitor and assess fishing vessel activity using satellite-based monitoring system software, such as vTrack and interactive mapping programs such as ArcGIS, and report potential violations to sworn personnel.o Assist agents and officers by researching and analyzing financial, statistical, economic and accounting data and information for investigative files and provide compliance assistance to fishing industry members. Experience:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Maintaining information for investigative reports using a case management system; and Assisting with the assessment of data using geographic information system (GIS) software.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
