Biologist

As a Biologist within the St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Conduct biological, environmental, and ecological field studies in remote marine settings; logistics planning, participating in marine field surveys and use of SCUBA. Conduct regional-scale biological, environmental, and ecological field studies; coral species and other marine organism identification; measurements identify, and count marine species. Process, analyze, and present scientific data in the form of physical samples, numbers, images, videos, measurements from images and videos, and laboratory rendered data; present results as databases, figures, and summary tables. Produce data products (data releases); write and edit Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC)-compliant metadata; contribute to scientific writing of peer-reviewed publications, reports, and outreach materials. Making biological measurements underwater using SCUBA. Operate a government vehicle as an incidental driver. Physical Demands:
The work requires some physical exertion such as walking over wet, rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, underwater measurements that require SCUBA or similar activities. The work requires moderate physical ability and average agility and dexterity. Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, and/or in the field. The office is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Temperature and weather extremes may be encountered in the performance of the outdoor work. Field and laboratory duties may require the use of special protective gear. The incumbent is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property with which entrusted. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Biologist, all grade levels. A. Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above (24 semester hours or the equivalent in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position), plus appropriate experience and/or additional education for a total of 4 years. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in A above. In addition to the basic education requirement as stated above, applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-09 level:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree in biology or other directly related field of study or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education (36 semester hours, 54 quarter hours or the equivalent) leading to a master's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or other related disciplines if it provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position to be filled. OR one year of appropriate professional experience in biology that is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-07 level work may include:
(1) experience in the identification and enumeration of biological species, samples, and data and knowledge of oceanographic processes acting on coral reefs, and delivery of biological data in reports and in contribution to peer-reviewed publications; (2) knowledge and ability in curating, processing, and writing metadata for biologic, geologic, oceanographic data related to coral reef ecosystems; (3) experience in executing complex biological science studies and making biological measurements underwater using SCUBA; and (4) documenting coral reef ecosystem research results in reports and preparing data for formal publication in data releases and/or databases. OR a combination of successfully completed progressive graduate level education, as described above, that is beyond the first year of graduate study and professional experience, as described above. If selected, you must provide proof that you are a certified SCUBA diver. If you do not possess a current valid certification, you will be screened-out from further consideration for this position. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
