Information Specialist

As an Information Specialist within the St. Petersburg Coastal & Marine Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Assisting USGS Coastal Change Hazards and US Coastal Research Program (USCRP) to improve communication through development of journal papers, briefing documents, web pages, social media content, and press releases. Organizing and leading stakeholder meetings designed to identify user needs and share USGS and USCRP activities, products, and opportunities. Creating and managing database to organize information associated with the USCRP funding opportunities and other program activities. Organizing program meetings, science seminars, and other internal activities for staff and leadership within federal agencies, universities, and NGOs. Developing and implementing communication plan and evaluating the effectiveness of communication efforts. Operating a government owned or leased vehicle as an incidental driver. In order to qualify for the GS-11 you must meet one of the following:
One year of appropriate professional experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in Federal service. Examples of such experience may include:
assisting in the planning and development of scientific web page designs; disseminating scientific information through websites, presentations, social media and other multi-media outlets; writing basic web based scientific content for multi-media outlets; preparing educational and scientific exhibits for conferences, briefings, or workshops. OR Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education (54 semester hours or 81 quarter hours or the equivalent) leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or LL.M., in the field of study which provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Possess a combination of successfully completed graduate level education, as described above, and professional experience, as described above. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
