Supervisory Paralegal Specialist, PD# 33048-A Serves as first line supervisor to Paralegal Specialists. Evaluates conduct and performance goals of subordinates and provides constructive feedback to subordinates to improve performance. Gives advice, counsel, and instruction to subordinates on work and administrative matters. Resolves issues and conflicts that arise in the workplace and/or in carrying out assigned work. Provides direct administrative and legal services to clients, colleagues and supervisors on case and/or program assignments. Negotiates settlements/compromises within authority. Leads implementation of administrative improvement recommendations to accomplish OGC goals. Interviews witnesses/claimants and other stakeholders to obtain necessary information. Manages systems for sharing information and organizing program work. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Time-in-grade:
Applicants who are current Federal employees or who have held a GS grade anytime in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Example for a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 level. Specialized Experience (GS-12):
Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Experience providing direct legal services to clients by handling cases to include fact finding, problem analysis, problem solving, legal writing, and interpreting regulations and policies. Experience in case development including gathering all relevant facts and information needed for case processing, conducting legal research and applying the same to the issues presented, and interviewing witnesses/claimants and other stakeholders. Monitored a team's progress on group projects or goals and provided updates to managers or supervised a team. Acted in an informal or formal team lead capacity that may include serving as the point person for incoming assignments, delegating tasks to others, and escalating issues to supervisor. Served as a coach, mentor or trainer to new or less experienced staff. There is no educational substitute for the GS-12 level. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
