GIS Technician
Position Summary
Avineon, Inc. is looking to add a GIS Technician to our team of professionals. The candidate will be reviewing and comparing various information sources, digitizing and editing electric facility network data in ArcGIS 10.x, and performing QA review of GIS data ensuring adherence to defined requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Use ArcGIS 10.X tools and documented project specifications to digitize, modify, and attribute electric system facilities from multiple scanned paper maps and database sources. Review and compare various information sources. Digitize and edit facility network data in ArcGIS 10.x. Perform QA review of GIS data ensuring adherence to defined requirements. Perform self-checks on completed data based on defined production processes. Knowledge of electric and/or gas facility data preferred Experience with map conversion is desirable. Experience with CAD products such as AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus. Experience with mapping other utility type data (gas, water, telco) is a plus. Should be familiar with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Education - Experience & Skills Required
Requires a minimum of 1 year hands-on experience with Esri ArcMap software. Must have high motivation level and excellent work ethic. Strong communication (verbal and written) and listening skills. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively with minimal direction. Self-motivation, adaptability, and ability to meet aggressive deadlines. ArcGIS 10.X training/education preferred. Must have experience in creating, interpreting, and using a variety of maps and associated data.
