Deputy Director, Head Start/Early Head Start

This position is responsible for Head Start/Early Head Start services in Pinellas County, FL. The headquarters office is located in Largo, FL

Supports the Executive Director in efforts to ensure compliance across service areas at each of LSF Head Start and Early Head Start Programs in Florida. Leads the content area team to integrate Head Start/Early Head Start services for children and families and is responsible for education and early childhood development services. Ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, as well as state, federal and local licensing board requirements. Participates in the HS/EHS Quality Assurance efforts.

Essential Functions:
Support the Executive Director as the assigned Early Childhood expert for Grantee and must be able to act on behalf of the Executive Director in his/her absence.
Assists with the Annual Self-Assessment, Program Monitoring and mandatory federal reporting to include the Program Information Report, Enrollment Reports and monthly required reports to the Grantee and Delegate Policy Council, Committees and Board of Directors.
Provides support in the implementation and roll-out of LSF policy and procedures and management by objectives and the approval process.
Leads ECE and VPK staff in the coordination of Head Start and State Pre-Kindergarten school readiness.
Provides support in instances in which vacancies exist among early childhood management and classroom staff.
Provides direct support in the aggregation of school readiness data and required assessments for all LSF Head Start and Early Head Start children.
Supervises Centers as assigned and the ensures adequate staffing at all center locations. Provide CLASS evaluations and the aggregation of children assessments.
Monitors completion of required staff training and professional development efforts. Works with team members in developing and implementing staff professional development plans.
Manages the curriculum implementation county-wide for the Grantee and is responsible for working with the Head Start and Quality Assurance Manager toward providing required assessments for children and outcomes reporting.
Responsible for the School Readiness Advisory board and the lead person for coordinating the Regional school readiness updates.
Supervises assigned subordinates, ensuring performance standards are met, completes performance appraisals and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken when necessary.
Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start/Early Head Start children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Attends all workshops and meetings as deemed necessary by the Executive Director.
Attends all required staff and parent meetings and activities
Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Education:
Master's degree in Early Childhood, Public Administration, Business, Social Work. Must have the capacity to assist other team members in implementing and adapting curricula to the group and individual needs of children in the Head Start Program.

Experience:
At least five years of previous experience in management/administration required. Must have experience and/or certifications in pre-school classroom assessments, i.e., CLASS, VPK, etc. Must have knowledge of variety of computer software applications to include electronic children assessment tools, child tracking programs and presentation software. Head Start experience preferred.
Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area.
Also required: Certification in First Aid and CPR within six months of the date assigned to this position; and successful completion of a Level II background screening, local criminal record check and drug screening prior to hiring.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of HS/EHS performance standards.

Knowledge of early childhood and adult learning techniques.
Math skills needed to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and overtime.
Computer skills to produce and interpret graphs, charts, spreadsheets and other mathematical reports.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to interpret agency, federal and state laws pertaining to the program.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
