This position will combine a knowledge of regulated utility accounting/finance concepts with a strategic focus to support regulatory and legislative initiatives for Duke Energy Florida.
Model, analyze and communicate historical and forecasted revenue requirements, earnings, cash flows, and customer rate implications of various scenarios in support of rate making and legislative strategies.
Participate in general rate case activities to seek appropriate cost recovery, including research, data gathering, coordination with multiple departments, testimony and exhibit development, filing submissions, testifying, etc.
Work with internal and external parties, providing necessary information and answering questions as needed.
Provide regulatory expertise/support in the development and successful implementation of business initiatives with appropriate cost recovery mechanisms. Identify potential regulatory issues/hurdles and propose solutions/strategies to overcome barriers.
Communicate regulatory and cost recovery concepts to both internal and external audiences (Duke Energy management, regulatory staff, etc.).
Complete special projects.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting.
9 plus years' related work experience.
Desired Qualifications
MBA or Master's level education
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Exposure to or familiarity with the FERC Uniform System of Accounts
Proficient in Microsoft Products: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail, including ability to recognize irregularities in data, and commitment to high level of accuracy
Utility work experience
Regulatory experience
Rate case support experience
Utilities International UIPlanner software experience
Highly motivated with demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to influence others, gain support of proposals and recommendations
Time management skills - ability to meet deadlines and work with little supervision
Ability to foster effective relationships with teammates and others
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to verbally explain calculations and filings to others
