Work requires extensive expertise in proofreading; highly skilled use of a personal computer to compose, edit and revise correspondence, memoranda and reports; skilled handling of a multi-line telephone system; the ability to quickly learn departmental procedures, policies and practices used to carry out position responsibilities; multi-tasking skills; familiarity with business processes such as tracking goods and services consumption and ordering, generating invoices, processing payments and maintaining expense records; experience formulating and monitoring project and department budgets; and excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
An employee in this position must be able to exercise considerable independent sound judgment serving internal and external customers, answering routine and in depth questions regarding organizational programs, policies and procedures, and handling complaints; may serve as a lead supervisor over other clerical workers to complete assignments; will provide administrative support to department activities such as recruiting to fill vacant positions, payroll, training, and classification and salary administration; and is expected to exercise a high degree of professional discretion in situations involving sensitive or confidential information.

59 PM) To Qualify Minimum Qualifications.
Applicants must:
Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Be highly proficient in typing and the use of a personal computer.
Have at least two years of responsible experience in an administrative support position using advanced skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Have considerable knowledge of business English and a high level of expertise in proofreading and use of correct punctuation, spelling and grammar.
Be able to compose complete error-free correspondence and documents for a variety of target audiences on behalf of the department.
Be able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Desirable Qualifications.
Preferred applicants:
Have a valid Bachelor's degree.
Are able to efficiently and effectively multitask, responding to rapidly changing administrative, telephone and walk-in customer demands.
Are able to effectively communicate with customers, on occasion in difficult situations, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Are skilled at record keeping, document maintenance, and planning and organizing.
Have knowledge of Oracle and Kronos operating systems.
Have general accounting experience.
